An Organized Approach to Enterprise Readiness
The OneWA program organizes its bodies of work by the 6 Dimensions of Readiness. The dimensions are based on enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation industry accepted practices and go beyond traditional organizational change management (OCM) methodology.
The 6 Dimensions of Readiness is a guide for Washington state agencies' readiness journey, supported by OneWA Agency Consultants. This journey defines each dimension and highlights what success could look like for each agency - along with assisting to identify gaps and dedicate resources. Agencies are encouraged to utilize this framework to encourage embracing change and promoting readiness.

Diver deeper into each of the 6 Dimensions by clicking on the titles below:
- Change Readiness
-
Change readiness ensures that all people impacted by Workday's changes have gone through their own individual transition to successfully engage, adopt, and use the new solution.
Outcomes:
- Awareness: Stakeholders, including end-users, are aware of the OneWA program, and what needs to change about how business is done and why.
- Desire: People impacted by the new system understand the benefits to them, their agency, and the state overall, and see why it is important to be on board, and choose to participate.
- Knowledge: Impacted staff have the skills and knowledge to support the transition from the current financial system of record - AFRS - to Workday and how to change. Trainings on processes and tools are established, and skill learning and development occurs.
- Ability: Easier ability for your team to effectively implement the required skills and behavior. Build a plan with your team in conjunction with your Agency Consultant.
- Reinforcement: Approaching and beyond go-live, agencies foster change reinforcement with specific tactics and practices.
- Resource Readiness
-
Resource readiness ensures agencies have sufficient capacity of staff who are trained with the right skills and knowledge for their new ways of working post go-live.
Outcomes:
- Agencies have adjusted staff roles, responsibilities, and capacity in line with a resourcing plan for both implementation activities and for post go-live new processes and Workday needs.
- Staff impacted by the new system and policies/procedures understand what is changing for them, and what they need to do differently as a result.
- Staff impacted by Workday have been trained, have put the skills needed into practice, and have feedback and coaching that help them best adopt the new system and ways of working.
- Agency Support Team (AST) sponsors are appropriately authorized to implement plans and processes successfully.
- Operations Readiness
-
Operations readiness ensures that Workday access controls, support mechanisms, and performance metrics are in place for a smooth go-live.
Outcomes:
- End-users have appropriate access to Workday based on their role and responsibilities.
- Agencies understand self-help materials and quick reference guides available for their end-users and have adjusted them with any agency-specific nuance as needed.
- Agencies have robust support, issue resolution, escalation, and mitigation plans defined for post-go-live.
- Technical Readiness
-
Technical readiness ensures the agency legacy systems are remediated, and the Workday environment along with its integrations with legacy systems are developed and tested.
Outcomes:
- Agencies understand the future state design of Workday, and how it is different from current ways of operating.
- Agencies have done an assessment of their legacy systems and identified systems to be remediated or retired.
- Agencies have completed the development and remediation efforts for all non-retiring legacy systems to ensure compatibility with Workday.
- Agencies have tested Workday and its compatibility with their remediated legacy systems.
- Agencies have confirmed readiness for cutover and deployment at go-live.
- Data Readiness
-
Data readiness ensures that appropriate historical data has been collected, loaded, and validated in the new Workday system.
Outcomes:
- Agencies have participated in data conversion activities and other design sessions and have an understanding of what data is needed for Workday.
- Agencies have a path forward and a repeatable process for extracting and transforming historical data from legacy systems.
- Agencies have submitted all the data needed for go-live through multiple iterations.
- Agencies have validated the data loaded in the new system.
- Business Readiness
-
Business readiness ensures policies, processes, and Workday configurations are aligned to enable day-to-day business operations at the agency.
Outcomes:
- Agencies are collaboratively involved and participate in the future stat design sessions.
- Agencies understand the state level changes in policies and processes.
- Agencies have drafted agency-level policy and process changes.
- Agencies have mitigations in place for any gaps in current state vs. future state functionality.
