Glossary of Terms

Multi-tenant Program

Multi-tenancy is an architecture in which a single instance of a software application serves multiple customers. Each customer is called a tenant.

Political subdivision Program

Local governments, including counties, cities, special districts, and public benefit non-profit 501(c)3 organizations.

Solicitation Program

Business Function Program

The five (5) major business areas that will be supported by the ERP solution (i.e., Finance, Procurement, H/R, Payroll, and Budget).

Design build Program

An alternative contracting method of project delivery subject to provisions in RCW 39.10 in which the agency/institution contracts directly with a single entity that is responsible for both design and construction services for a construction project.

General obligation bonds Program

Statewide bond issues whose repayment is guaranteed by the full faith, credit, and taxing power of the state and that are subject to the state’s debt limit. General obligations bonds are the traditional form of government debt financing for major construction projects.

Operating budget Program

A biennial plan for the revenues and expenditures necessary to support the administrative and service functions of state government.

Standard Outbound Integration (SOI) Program

An integration used by multiple agencies that is OUTBOUND from Workday.

Program Program

Any of the major activities of an agency expressed as a primary function or organizational unit. Agencies may not alter their program structure without the explicit approval of the Legislature and OFM.

The Allotment System (TALS) Program

This system enables agencies to develop allotment packets online. It supports allotment development, management, review, reporting and monitoring needs for state agencies, OFM and the Legislature.

Accrued expenditures Program

Expenditures that meet the appropriate recognition criteria of the account type involved but have not been paid. Accrued expenditures are expected to be paid in a subsequent accounting period.

Certified Veteran's Owned Business (CVOB) Program

"Veteran" includes every person, who at the time he or she seeks the benefits of RCW 46.18.212, 46.18.235, 72.36.030, 41.04.010, 73.04.090, 73.08.010, 73.08.070, 73.08.080, or 43.180.250, has received an honorable discharge or received a discharge for medical reasons with an honorable record, where applicable, and who has served in at least one of the following capacities: As a member in any branch of the armed forces of the United States, including the national guard and armed forces reserves, and has fulfilled his or her initial military service obligation; As a member of the women's air forces service pilots; As a member of the armed forces reserves, national guard, or coast guard, and has been called into federal service by a presidential select reserve call-up for at least 180 cumulative days; As a civil service crewmember with service aboard a U.S. army transport service or U.S. naval transportation service vessel in oceangoing service from December 7, 1941, through December 31, 1946; As a member of the Philippine armed forces/scouts during the period of armed conflict from December 7, 1941, through August 15, 1945; or A United States documented merchant mariner with service aboard an oceangoing vessel operated by the department of defense, or its agents, from both June 25, 1950, through July 27, 1953, in Korean territorial waters and from August 5, 1964, through May 7, 1975, in Vietnam territorial waters, and who received a military commendation. To qualify as a veteran owned business, the veteran or service-member must control and own at least 51 percent of the business and the business must be legally operating in the state of Washington. (Control means the authority or ability to direct, regulate or influence day-to-day operations. If business is a 50/50 split or to learn more about becoming a certified veteran owned business.

Economic life Program

Economic life in the context of cost/benefit analysis refers to the span of years necessary to compare similar costs of operating and maintaining alternative solutions. It may not equate to the time required to fully depreciate the structure. The economic life span should be the same for each alternative for a project. The period of time, extending from the date of installation to the date of retirement for the intended service, over which a prudent owner expects to retain the property in order to obtain a minimum cost.

Information technology portfolio Program

The planning and management process for information technology resources and investments overseen by the Office of the Chief Information Officer.

Real property Program

Property that is fixed, immovable, and permanent. Real property includes land, structures affixed to the land, property affixed to the structures, and in some cases, trees etc., growing on the land.

Workforce Readiness Program

Helps end-users understand how their job is changing and be prepared for new roles and responsibilities – before training.

Advanced Report Workday Cross Application

You can create 3 types of custom reports: simple, advanced, and matrix. An advanced report provides all the features of a simple report, plus more advanced ones such as accessing related business objects and producing multiple levels of headings and subtotals. Advanced reports also enable the use of sub-filters, run time prompts, charts, worklets, and report sharing, and provide the ability to expose the report as a web service.

To-Dos Workday Cross Application

To-Dos are reminders to do something outside of the Workday system. They can be part of business processes, and have to be marked complete before the workflow will go to the next step.

Functional Area Workday Cross Application

A functional area is a collection of domain or business process security policies that are related to the same set of product features, for example, Benefits or Compensation.

Put (permission) Workday Cross Application

Put is an integration action that adds or changes Workday data. It is a permission that can be granted in a domain security policy.

Aggregation Security Group Workday Cross Application

An aggregation security group is one whose members are other security groups. Workers associated with any included security group are granted access through an aggregation security group.

User-Based Security Group Workday Cross Application

A user-based security group has workers as members. When used in a security policy, it grants access to the securable items to all members of the group.

Get (permission) Workday Cross Application

Get is an integration action that retrieves Workday data. It is a permission that can be granted in a domain security policy.

Related Business Object Workday Cross Application

When defining a report, fields that return objects related to the primary business object are said to contain related business objects. These related objects may have their own set of fields that can be included in the report as well.

Approve Workday Cross Application

Designated participants in a business process, with a defined responsibility in this type of event, indicate they approve the proposed action. (The business process can proceed to the next step.)

View (business process) Workday Cross Application

Viewing a business process means seeing its status and reporting on it. This is a securable item in a business process security policy.

Intersection Security Group Workday Cross Application

An intersection security group is one whose members are other security groups. Workers associated with all included security groups are granted access through an intersection security group.

Report Data Sources Workday Cross Application

Predefined groups of logically related fields, used when creating reports with Report Writer, which define the data in the report row. For example, the report data source “Employees” contains contact information, personal data, and identification information. Report data sources also include which roles have access to see the report data.

Assignable Roles Workday Cross Application

You can assign positions to organization roles. Depending on your staffing model, a position may or may not necessarily have a worker specified.

View (permission) Workday Cross Application

View is the ability to see objects or data through the Workday user interface, when permitted in a domain security policy.
